It is the responsibility of a building owner to ensure that:
- Functional testing of emergency lighting is conducted at 30 day intervals
- Functional testing of emergency lighting is conducted annually
- Emergency lighting equipment, including exit signs, is fully operational for the duration of the test required
Complying with these requirements can be very expensive and labor intensive, especially in larger buildings where testing requires many labor hours spent manually inspecting and monitoring every emergency lighting unit.
